Privacy

This website collects nothing about you. There is no account to create, no sign-up form, no cookies, and nothing that follows you around the internet. You can read every page here without telling us who you are.

A few things do involve your details — donating, emailing us, or being in one of our photographs. Each one is explained below.

What this website collects

Nothing. We do not use cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any other service that follows you between websites. There is no sign-up form and no mailing list to join here.

Like any website, ours sits on rented computers, and the company that rents them to us keeps routine records of pages being requested. What we can see from those records is how many people read which pages. They do not tell us who you are, and we do not try to find out.

If you donate

Our Donate button takes you to Square, the company that handles our card payments. Your card details go straight to Square. They never touch this website, and we could not see them if we wanted to.

Square does tell us who gave and how much, so that we can thank you and keep our accounts straight. That means your name, your email address, and the amount. Our treasurer sees it. Nobody else needs to.

We do not sell donor details, trade them, or pass them to another organization. Giving to us does not put you on a list.

If you would rather not use a card, you can mail a check instead. The address is in the Donate section of our home page.

If you email us

The email links on this site open your own email program. We do not collect addresses through the website.

When you write to us, your message lands in an inbox that a board member reads. We keep it as long as it is useful — an offer to volunteer, a question about the garden — and we do not sign you up for anything because you wrote to us.

Photographs

We publish photographs of our events, because they are the plainest record of what donations paid for. People are in them, and we take that seriously.

Before any photograph goes on this site:

• We confirm the photographer is happy for it to be used.
• We do not publish a photograph of an identifiable child without written agreement from the board.
• If we are unsure about a recognizable adult, we leave the picture out. There is always another one.
• We never publish children's names.
• For the Secret Garden Tour we remove the location information that phones record inside a photograph, and we check with each garden owner first. Those gardens are private homes.

If you are in a photograph here and would rather not be, email us and we will take it down. You do not need to give a reason.

The companies we rely on

Three, and no others:

• Netlify serves the pages you are reading.
• Sanity stores our words and photographs.
• Square handles donations.

Each has its own privacy policy. There are no advertising networks, no analytics companies, and no social media tracking on this site.

Questions, or something you would like removed

Write to us at info@fotvg.org(opens in a new tab). If you want a photograph taken down, or want to know what we hold about a donation you made, ask and we will tell you.

Friends of the Village Green is an all-volunteer group. There is no office and no staff, so give us a few days to reply.
